Electro-Static Scientific Wand!
The FunFlyStick appears to magically cause light metallic objects to dance about in midair! But it's not magic, it's weird science!
Scientifically speaking, the FunFlyStick is a compact Van de Graaff generator, capable of creating an electrical field strong enough to keep the included Mylar objects hovering in the air. This kit includes everything you need to amaze your friends and learn about physics at the same time!
A Van de Graaff generator is a simple mechanical device – an electrostatic generator that uses a moving belt to collect very high voltages on a hollow metal globe on the top of the stand. It is a constant-current source connected with a capacitor and having a large electrical resistance.
The Van de Graaff generator was invented by its namesake, Robert J. Van de Graaff, an American physicist, in 1929.
- Includes mylar five foil flyers: an hourglass, a butterfly and three spheres
- 2AA batteries required (not included)
- Wand measures approx. 19"
